TELECLASS: Evaluating the Viability of Your New Product Idea

Whether you want investment funding to manufacture and sell your new product idea or you want to license it to another company, you will be asked to prove your product's viability in the marketplace. As an inventor or product developer, you have to determine what resources will give you the answers required. You will need to utilize a variety of research methods--both online and offline--to achieve your goals. This session highlights the types of information to research, why it is important and ways to cost-effectively find the information.

What You Will Learn:

  • Why stating "there is no competition" can blindside you when you are in front of the prospect
  • How to inexpensively uncover hidden competitors to avoid being blindsided
  • How to research from the prospect backwards to help you find other players in your sales channel(s)
  • Why differentiating the needs of the paying customer from those of the customer who uses the product will help close sales faster.
  • How you can break down a product idea into smaller components to research it--without disclosing all of your intellectual property
  • Why selling benefits (vs.building a prototype) is a better use of your time and money

The class may be recorded.
